Hello Friends...
Many of us are using Window 8 Consumer preview. In window 8 there is no direct access to the shutdown in start screen. Many of us don't know that we can add our own shortcuts in Window 8 Start Screen. Here I am sharing a tutorial showing the steps to create and add Shutdown shortcut in Window 8 Start Screen...
We may add any program shortcut in the same way...!!!
Have Fun with Window 8...!!!
- To begin Click on Desktop Tile in Start Screen to access desktop.
- Now Right click in Desktop screen and Select New --> Shortcut.
- Type shutdown.exe -s -t 00 in Type the location of the item edit box and click next.
- Now give the name for the shortcut. We are using Shutdown.
- Right click on Shortcut Created i.e. Shutdown, select Properties --> Shortcut --> Change Icon...
- Because no icon is associated with shutdown.exe program, so we get a message as show below. Click OK.
- Select any Icon you like. We can select our own icon by selecting browse and navigating to the location in our PC. We select Power Icon here.
Now its time to add this shortcut in Start Screen.
- Copy this shortcut in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories we may copy and paste this in address bar or navigate to it. ProgramData is hidden folder, to view it we have to select Hidden files in view tab.
- Open Start Screen.
- WoW.. Shutdown tile is here...!!!
We may add any program shortcut in the same way...!!!
Have Fun with Window 8...!!!
